Who are we?
HELLO
My name is Charlotte Ventura. My life has always revolved around animals! I started on my path to be a veterinarian at the age of 14. I began working with a local veterinarian after school and after a while I realized that the job was too emotional for me. However, I wanted to do something positive with animals and help their devoted owners. I continued my education as it relates to animal husbandry and basic veterinary care.
I opened my first grooming salon in 1984. At that time I also got my first show dog. Back in those days Havanese were a rare breed shown only at ARBA and UKC events. I was fortunate enough to be hired by the owner of a Havanese to groom and handle. I learned so much about this amazing breed and fell in love! I continued to handle show dogs for owners and became an all breed AKC registered handler. My husband and I were two of the first to be accepted into the program. I began co-breeding Havanese with other breeders who needed help learning about structure and movement and how to better their pedigrees. It came very easy for me and soon I was the proud breeder, owner, and handler of THREE NATIONAL SPECIALTY WINNERS!
My goal is to breed the healthiest, most beautiful Havanese possible. On average, I plan two breedings per year. Sometimes less. All breeding dogs are completely health tested for genetic diseases. Temperament is very important as well, and due to the focus on this and working aptitude, I’ve been able to produce several top winning agility and performance dogs. I’ve bred and shown over 100 Havanese to their championship. You may find that I’m VERY particular about my home selection process. I’m this way because I care deeply about what happens to my babies. I’m ALWAYS available to help owners with anything that relates to my babies from day one to the last day. I prefer to be included in any medical choices and nutrition decisions, all in the interest of keeping my puppies healthy and safe for years to come. I don’t breed for any specific color although I do have reds. My goal in bringing in reds from Europe was to combine the best of the very old original bloodlines with the best of the American bloodlines. That plan has paid off repeatedly in the show ring and the agility ring. I want to remain true to the standard and not follow fads or trends!
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have!
Respectfully, Charlotte Ventura
